Jessie Goodman - Co-Founder

Jessie is the reason that Levin Boarding Cattery is able to exist, and why we have complete confidence to offer the highest quality experience possible. She makes sure that we, Levin Boarding Cattery, comply with all required and recommended best practices for animal husbandry. In fact she has made sure that our cattery facility not only meets but exceeds MPI (Ministry of Primary Industries) regulations for caring for animals.

Jessie is a life-long cat lover that has been in the animal industry for over 15 years. Jessie holds a Certificate in Animal Welfare, and can be seen above working at Franklin Zoo and Wildlife sanctuary under her mentor at the time, Helen, who both owned the zoo and worked as a vet. Jessie was able to learn the craft of effective animal husbandry while working and studying in this environment.

Unfortunately at the time, Franklin Zoo suffered a terrible loss as one day Helen suffered a fatal accident while on the job. The team that Jessie was on at the time was left with the task of rehoming a zoo full of animals, without any source of income. The staff was able to successfully rally and rehome every animal in the zoo, including the elephant, which required the sourcing of a carrier aircraft.

While the accident meant the end of Franklin Zoo, Helen’s memory lives on with Jessie as a crucial part of her formative years learning to care for animals.

Jessie has since worked in the pet retail sector, in doggy daycare’s, and in other catteries. Levin Boarding Cattery is built on the system of best practices Jessie has accumulated through her years of experience, beginning as a zookeeper. Jessie began working for a major pet retailer as an animal welfare officer, before becoming inventory manager, which means she has built an intimate knowledge of pet products.

We have committed to owning our own cattery as we wanted an outlet where we can apply Jessie’s knowledge in our own business. You can have confidence that with Jessie in charge of operations your cat is receiving the best care that money can buy.
